about

This album particular is about the problems of black communities & self awareness. The entire album is not a history lesson but weaves in topics that one may have to ask himself to be at his best to figure things out to avoid repeating past failures.

Social injustices, prejudice, racial issues & situations we witness on a daily basis by an authority, at the same time painting the African man as a menace to society not knowing what we contributed to society.

Once Shade came up with Uncivil Rights, I immediately started thinking about what was happening around us & who it was happening to. Around the time of all the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement & all that shit was going on. I also looked around at the message being presented by the mainstream rappers and it all looks & sounds like coonery! Not at all trying to add some intelligence. Products of the environment.

Let me see what I can say.

UNCIVIL RIGHTS is being created

As I start writing and trying to figure things out, I lost touch with Shade for a bit with life shit I figured. Sending him the songs and it might be a period of time that I heard back & after a few times of that, he comes back and says he isn't feeling the beats. He said, sonically it sounds like The Singles. Our last album. Suggesting that I could do whatever with them.

So he sends more beats to replace the other ones so we can get this going again. I start writing to these, by this time I felt I couldn't write too much more on these topics without sounding repetitive. In the meantime, I figured I'm just gonna release the first songs originally as a prelude to what was to come for Uncivil Rights. As I start cleaning em up and sending them to Shade, he was like, these are dope! Ok..back to working on them.

#UNCIVILLEFTS has been created.

Enjoy
